Our second day started with Anne sleeping until 8am, and Beth until 8:30am. These times are unheard of around here! They are both usually up with the sun, but apparently yesterday wore them out.
We did our meditation, at least Beth and I did, Anne spent a lot of time twirling & flipping. Then we went on the balcony to compare what we saw/felt with our weather charts (http://brigidsdailylessonlog.blogspot.com/2013/08/freebie-4weather.html). Next was our daily talk about the calendar, miscellaneous posters, and morning prayer. That concluded our morning, because we were going on a field-trip.
We attended a local homeschool co-op group’s Not Back to School Picnic. The members were all very welcoming and had a wealth of knowledge amongst them. Unfortunately, we had to make a quick exit, due to the lack of restrooms at the park, but we are looking forward to the next gathering, which will entail slimy science fun.
Upon our return home, we had lunch and story time. I read them two books, then each girl took turns being the teacher. They both “read” the same books, from their unique perspective; it was interesting to see what each of them remembered about the stories.
Beth asked to do our mile with Leslie next, we incorporated some silly moves to make it more fun. After our exercise session, Beth had her OT session, while Anne and I worked on following directions, and making circles.
Our final activity was yoga, but 5 minutes in Anne (who was twirling again) smacked Beth in the eye, and yoga came to an abrupt, teary end. Veggie Tales to the rescue! We watched a movie until dinner time, so everyone could relax.
After dinner we played hide-and-seek, which is comical in an apartment, but always much fun for the girls; they giggle the entire time. Before daddy came home, we did our chores. They girls cleaned up all their toys, then took turns helping do dishes and vacuum. Helping is new for them, and not only do they love it, but they are very proud of their work.
Today was a bit of a whirlwind, but one day at at a time we are learning what is truly important. My kids totally rock as teachers! Their biggest lesson for mommy is nothing ever goes as planned. 😉
I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings…
Have a blessed day everyone, and don’t forget to smile. ♥
